Submissions until 30 September 2026

Witacz of the Year 2026

A nationwide contest for the best harvest witacz. Submit the one from your village and gather votes from your neighbours.

A photo, the village, the photographer and your e-mail. Two minutes, confirmed by e-mail.

Recently submitted

The newest witacze in the gallery. Earlier years do not compete in this year’s contest.

How to take part

  1. 1

    Photograph and submit

Take a photo of the witacz in your village and send it through the submission form. All it takes is a photo, the village name and your email. If you know who made the witacz, name the makers too. The main prize goes to them, and you get an additional prize.

  2. 2

    Wait for moderation

You confirm your email, the editors check the photo and the witacz goes into the contest gallery. We count the approved submission as your first vote, and from that moment anyone can vote.

  3. 3

    Gather votes

Send the contest link to family and neighbours, and post it in local groups. The three witacze with the most votes win.

Prizes

The makers of the witacz collect the main prizes: those named in the submission or identified together with the submitter. The person who submitted an awarded witacz gets a separate additional prize.

We are talking to more partners and will add new prizes on this page.

Voting rules

  • Anyone with an email address can vote.
  • One email address means one vote per witacz. You can use the same address to vote for several witacze.
  • We count your vote once you click the confirmation link we send to your address. You confirm the address once, and we count further votes from the same browser right away.
  • We count an approved submission as the first vote for the witacz, recorded for the submitter’s email address.
  • We order the gallery from the most votes down, and the top ten carry a place number. We show the exact vote count once a witacz has at least 10 votes.
  • The three witacze with the most votes win. In a tie, the earlier submission ranks higher.
  • We may cancel votes cast in breach of the terms.

You will find the full rules in the contest terms.

Frequently asked questions

Does entering or taking part cost anything?

No. Submitting a witacz, taking part and voting are all free.

Who can submit a witacz?

Anyone: a village head, a rural housewives’ circle, a firefighter, a resident, a passing tourist. You need a photo, the village name and an email address to confirm the submission.

I submitted a witacz earlier. Is it in the contest?

Yes. All approved witacze from 2026 take part, including those submitted before we announced the contest.

Can I vote for more than one witacz?

Yes. You cast one vote per witacz from one email address.

Why is my vote not visible yet?

We count a vote only after you click the confirmation link in the email. On top of that, we show the vote counter once a witacz has 10 votes. Before that you can read its position from the gallery order, and the top ten carry a place number. Check your spam folder too.

Who collects the prize: the photographer or the makers?

The makers of the witacz, such as a housewives’ circle or the village council, collect the main prize. Name them in the submission. The submitter gets a separate additional prize. If the makers cannot be identified, the main prize passes to the next witacz in the ranking and the submitter keeps the additional prize.

Someone already submitted the witacz from my village. What now?

Each witacz competes once. If a second submission slips into the gallery by mistake, we merge the votes of both submissions, counting each email address once.

What exactly can you win?

The makers of the three best witacze win chocolate workshops at the Chocolate Museum in Toruń: for 3 people for 1st place, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd. Submitters get separate additional prizes. We add further prizes in the “Prizes” section on this page.
